GPS Routes are Loaded

I decided to load my GPS Routes for the second half of my trip on the Lincoln Highway. Last year, I did this the night before I was to leave. I went to load my routes and my GPS would not communicate with my computer so I was forced to go "Old School" with maps.

No such problems this year since Gamin replaced the unit under warranty. Nebraska through California are loaded and ready to go.

The Lincoln Highway and Me (Part Two)

Sometime during the second week of July I will begin the second part of my trip on the Lincoln Highway. Last year I rode from Pittsburgh to the eastern edge of Grand Island Nebraska on the Lincoln Highway. At that point due to time constraints I went North West on the Nebraska Sandhills Via Scenic Highway(Rt2).

This year I plan on running hard out west on the super slabs to Iowa and visit the "Field of Dreams and then to Clear Lake Iowa where Buddy Holly played his last concert. From there I will make my way to Grand Island Nebraska to meet up with the Lincoln Highway once again. This time I will take the Lincoln Highway to its Western Terminus in San Francisco visiting all sorts of cool sites in between.

I will be making the trip on a 2010 Harley Davidson Road Glide Custom. I traded in my dependable and gorgeous 2006 Road King this past April. The 2010 has a larger engine, a newly designed frame that vastly improves handling, more hauling capacity, a larger rear tire and most importantly it has ABS brakes. Comfort and safety... say no more.

I will be posting my itinerary very soon.

See you on the Lincoln Highway.
